Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for coordinating the optometric physician and optometric assistant continuing education for the OOPA. The committee works with the executive director and staff to develop long range education planning in conjunction with current and developing scope of practice.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee is responsible for development and support of legislation determined by the OOPA to be in the public interest and to oppose legislation determined not to be in the public interest.

The committee works closely with legislative lobbyists to advise the OOPA Board of Directors on legislative issues and make recommendations for legislative action. The committee also develops legislative strategies which will enable Optometric Physicians to practice at a level commensurate with their education and training as primary eye care practitioners.

Membership Committee

Working in conjunction with the AOA, the Membership Committee strives to build and communicate value in membership as an opportunity to further professional growth and gain security. The main goal of the committee is to promote membership diversity and participation of all optometric physicians in Oregon, so that the association serves as a strong representative of the profession.

Public Relations Committee
Communications Sub-Committee

The Public Relations Committee provides public education on eye health issues through several campaigns each year. The committee works with OOPA membership to promote campaigns, coordinates press releases, and maintains a speakers bureau of optometric physicians available for lectures.

Eye Care Benefits Committee

The mission of the OOPA Eye Care Benefits Committee is to educate its members regarding insurance/reimbursement issues, improve access, and act as an advocate on the part of Optometric Physicians when there are problems with insurers.
