What is an Optometric Physician?
Optometric physicians are independent, primary eye health care providers who examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures as well as diagnose related systemic conditions.
Optometric physicians may prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, low vision aids and vision therapy. They may prescribe medications to treat eye diseases. They may also test a patient's ability to focus and coordinate the eye, judge depth perception, and see colors accurately.

What is OOPAC? OOPAC is the Oregon Optometric Public Affairs Council. While separate organizations, OOPAC works with the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association. Contributions are made to campaigns of legislators and candidates for the Oregon Legislature who supports Optometry and our role as primary eye-care providers. The PAC process allows special interest groups to contribute to campaigns and reaffirm support for legislators who support optometry’s goals. Contributions are made to Democrats and Republicans, alike. A strong PAC is critical to our lobbying success.
